SHORES MDS

SHORES MDS is an industrial measurement organization that was founded in 2010 after the 2009 financial crisis. It was during this period when downstream operators were searching for ways to reduce project costs and increase execution efficiencies.

Dimensional control industrial measurement was then a staple in the execution of offshore both maintenance and construction projects when accuracy is imperative due to the implications involved an unsuccessful fit up however it was never then recognized as a way in which downstream operators could save money and improve quality.

SHORES MDS founded in California soon changed this belief and has since taken the technology to facilities across the us, successfully executing all sizes and complexity of projects.

Module Construction

Single weld module construction projects are a popular choice for new mega projects with the intention to fabricate dressed modules offsite and ship in place reducing the number of personnel onsite and in theory reduce the timeline for project completion.

This concept is only possible by using dimensional industrial measurement. Many organizations require dimensional measurement for final QC purposes however in reality dimensional industrial measurement should be used throughout the construction process to ensure the initial framework is fabricated within project dimensional specifications prior to being dressed with piping, equipment instrumentation, etc.

The fabrication yard is driven by schedule so any errors although discovered by the in-house service team is often massaged to not appear as bad as they are. The in-house teams are generally using technology that is outdated and not as accurate as of the industrial measurement survey software that is being used by SHORES MDS.

It is the belief of SHORES MDS that the information discovered through final module interface point QC is redundant unless the location of the onsite mating points is also known. SHORES MDS can verify foundation locations onsite, analyze as-built module data and predict accurately whether any module modifications are required before installation.

SHORES MDS can act independently from the site contractor and fabricator where we will analyze both sets of data to identify potential installation errors.
